The British Board of Trade returns for July show that the vdlue of imports was £78,270,000, exports £40,355,000, and reexports £3,725,000. Principal increases, compared with July, 1938, were: Imports other foods, £632,000; wood and timber, £716,000; raw wool, £761,000; iron and steel manufactures thereof, £1.153,000; nonferrous metals manufactures, £787,000; machinery, £467.000; other textile manufactures, £718,000; oils and fats, £055,000; paper cardboard, £504,000. Exports: Coal, £509,000; iron and steel manufactures thereof, £497,000. Decreases; — Imports: Meat, £863,000; dairy produce, £1,544,000; fresh fruit and vegetables, £555,000.
