NEWS FROM RED HILL.

(By Ailsa Gamf, Red Hill, Te Kopuru.) I live on a farm, and beside our house is a huge pine bush. In the middle of this bush is a lake, and on the hillside prows pink heather. People often gather it and send it to Auckland. Gum washing is carried on here too. Every yeer during June trenches are dug to hold water. Men then wash the ground from which they get gum. wood-chips and fine roots, which *-e known as "bulls-wool." When they have finished this, they blow it, whi-h process leaves only the gum. They then bag it, and send it to Auckland so it can be sold.
