WANGANUI, this day,

The stranded steamer Pprt Rpwen, which nioved ISO feet in a southerly direction along the beach op Monday, moved a further lfl feet last night. At high tide to-day the stern of the steamer wa» swinging from the shore outward for a distance of at least 20 feet. Preparations are being made to fix a long heavy cable from the stern to the shore in a northerly direction so aa to stop the swing of the steamer and, if possible, prevent further movement down the coast, About la feet of sand has been deposited between the qhip and the beach.
