FCHO-O-RAWIRI GATHERING.
The annual meeting of the iwi kainsra (home tribes) of Poho-o-Rawiri, the well-known meotinp-hoiise of the Maoris in tl>!> fti*boriie a:e>>. was held last week at (J ir: borne, with Mr. H. Hei, sen., a* ho«t. Members of Te Whannu Apanui and Whnkatoliea (Bay of Plenty) tribes spent Tuesday rii?ht at Waihirere en route, a* guests of that marae. The party arrived at Kaiti on Wednesday. where representatives of the Hauiti. Konohi and Mahaki tribes were waiting to receive them. After the usual pohiri and tangi the visitors adjourned to the meeting-house for a conference. An official luncheon for about 00 guests took place on Friday, the visitors leaving for their homes later in the day. Among those present were: Mr. H. Hei and family, Wairakau Kingi. Teran Rangi. Kairangatira. Miriania Pohntu, Katerina Takawhaki. Putiputi Lardelli. Mrs. Ban T.nnararo. Knpi Wawatai. Harata Rangiuia. Rukn Hinaki, Remana Paenga, Ri-tene Takina, Teeke Maki.
