DAVIS CUP FINAL. Hopman Says Bromwich Will Beat Riggs Again. PARKERS FOREHAND WEAK. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 2 p.m.) XEW YORK, August 14. H. O. Hopman, captain of the Australian Davis Cup team, who saw Rigge beat Parker in the final of the Rye tournament yesterday, stated: "From what I saw in that match and the doubles (in which Mako and Mulloy beat Riggs and Cooke) every rubber of the challenge round should be keenly contested—that is. if we get there." (Australia has first to meet Yugoslavia.) The Australian went on to say: '""Riggs has improved since last year, but not sufficiently to prevent Bromwich. from beating him again. "Judged by the final at Rye, Parker's new forehand is better but :"s still his weak point. When Riggs needed points he concentrated on Parker's forehand, and it cracked.
'It is now almost a certainty that Riggs and Parker will play us in the Davis Cup singles." A message from Boston states that Bromwich (who was off his game against Cuba) practised with the other members , of the Australian Davis Cup team dur-. ing intervals in the first day's play in, the United States doubles chammonship. Bromwich later told the Associated Press representative: "I feel that I am start ing on my way back now. I sort ot lost my touch for a while." Observers felt that he Vas hitting better to-day. [American opinion on the Australian team appears on page 14.]
