LABOUR PARTY
AVONDALE FUNCTION
The Avondale branch held a successful plain and fancy dress ball in the Oddfellows' Hall. The hall was decoratad in the party colours. The judging was in the hands of the Rev. Mary Dreaver end Mr. Jock Stewart, prizes being awarded a= follows: Best fancy, Mr. Wee Williams (New Zealand's own Top-Eye); mist original. Miss Reece (cow girl); best pair, Messrs. Woollams and Dobbin*>n (my«tery couple). Members of the committee, who worked eo hard to make the evening successful, were Mr. J. Williame, president. Mrs. M. Le Quesne. secretary, Mr*. G. Slade, Mrs. E. Slede, Mrs. Jones, Mi-s H. Slade, Mies L. Fowle, Messrs. A. Slade, H. Slade and Harris.
Among those present were: The Rev. Mary M. Dreaver, Mesclames M. Downie, Swann, Harris. White, Olsen, Misses Dreaver, A. Brookes, Pike. Justin, M. Blackburn, V. Blackburn, Oxton, Firth, Thompson, K. Moor, Brooks. H. Goldfinch, A. Weir, McKenzie, Saundere, M. Moor and Alltoft.
BELMONT-BAYSWATER SOCIAL.
Another of the series of fortnightly dances under the auspices of the Bel-mont-Bayswater Labour party branch was field in St. Michael's Hall, Belmont. Supper was served by the social committee. Mr. McCllntock acted as master of ceremonies.
