DULL CONDITIONS RULE. WKSTPORT COALS FIRMER. (By 'JYlegraph—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. \ ery dull conditions ruled on the Christchurch Exchange this morning, and business was con ti 11 ed to two issues, Government 1953-ii7 UomTs and New River Gold Dredgings. Prices were generally firm, particularly for New Zealand industrials. Among these classes Westport Coals looked better with a market from 20/ 9 to 20/il, while Dominion Breweries j had buyers up to 33 6 without a seller iroming in. Dominion Fertilizers were I quoted between 24 3 and 24, !>. and MH- | burn Limes were wanted at 35,9. I Buying ofters for Government securities were maintained at last week's firm levels, and ranged from £99 to £100 5/ tor 4 per cents. The sale of Xew Rivers was at a '/ad rise on the last price, and the market closed with buyers at 10' id and sellers lid. Grey River Dredging tailed to hold late rates, the market easing to sellers 16/9 and buyers 16./3. In overseas securities Woolworths (Sydney) were stronger at buyers 24.5 and sellers 24/8, while Dalgetys dropped back slightly, a seller being prepared to ' take £6 16/ and buyers offering £b 5/.
