POTATO PRICES STEADY.

JAPANESE ONIONS SELLING

The following is the official market report issued by the Auckland Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants' Association. The prices named are f.o.r. or f.0.b., Auckland. Potato and Onion Section. The local market has been short supplied this week owing to the late arrival of the Waimarino. This vessel arrived today and carries an average cargo of table and seed potatoes. The market in the South has been steady during the past week. Grand National week usually being a quiet time for business houses. Prices show little change and the Auckland current price for reds and whites, delivered city or f.o.r. remains at £21 per ton. inquiries arc still being made overseas in connection with importations of potatoes and negotiations are proceeding regarding the purchasing of supplies. Limited quantities of local onions are still coining 011 to the market at higher prices and this is having the effect of increasing the demand for Japanese. Current prices are:—Japanese, 22/ per crate; local, 23/ to 24/ per cwt. Grain Section. Stocks of maize from Gisborne are coming along more freely, although the bad weather is still causing a delay to some shipments. Several ships are now unload-, ing and the condition is good. Current ex store prices remain unchanged, these being 7. 2 to 7/4 per bushel, whilst 10-sack lots, ex ship, as thev arrive are 6/11 per bushel.

I'resh supplies of fowl wheat are available this week and deliveries in minimum 10-sack lots are being made and will continue until the end of the week. Prices still remain unaltered. Deliveries of barley after to-day will show an increase of 2d per bushel 011 all deliveries, making the ex store prices 4/6 to 4 8 for undipped, with clipped 6d per bushel higher. Special prices for 10-sack lots, ex Government stocks held in store, will be 4 and 4/6 for undipped and clipped respectively, these being the "cash with order ' prices, minimum 10-sack lots. 1 he demand for bron and pollard is very good throughout the country, ample stocks being 011 hand. Fresh arrivals of both lines are to hand this week and all ex ship and ex store orders are being delivered by merchants expeditiously. Prices are £8 5/ to £9 for Australian bran: £7 17 6 to £8 10/ for pollard. Ihe oats and chaff market remains unaltered, fair quantities moving out.
