FONSONBT CLUB
PRIZES WON LAST SEASON
The annual presentation of prizes to last season's winners in the Ponsonby Bowling Club took the form of a social gathering in the club paviliion, and it was attended by members and visitors, who included all the members of the centrc executive except three, who were indisposed or out of Auckland. The club president, Mr. G. F. Frieberg. was in the chair, but as he is now a member of the centre executive he deputed the immediate past president, Mr. A. E. Edwards. to give the first toast of the evening. the Auckland Centre. Mr. Edwards took the opportunity to congratulate the club on now having a member on the executive, the first time since the 1927-28 season, when Mr. Arthur Parsons concluded a long term as a member of that body. Other toasts were the New Zealand Bowling Council, Mr. W. J. Lovett. Mr. A. E. Whitten ; the winners. Mr. R. C. Gray. Mr. R. S. Somervell (club champion) ; the club, Mr. M. J. Walsh. Mr. A. Parsons; the neighbouring club (West End), Mr. I. Meltzer, Mr. R. Noton : the Press, Mr. D. Mclnness. Mr. C. G. Maher. Musical items were given by Messrs. Snooks, Colmer, Noton and Piper, humour by Mr. Forshaw, and extraordinary variations on the piano by Mr. J. R. Elsbury.
