PADISHAH WINS
THE HOMEBY STEEPLES. CHRISTCHURCH HUNT MEETING. RESULTS FROM MANAWATU. Considerable interest centred to-day in the annual meeting of the Christchurch Hunt at Riccarton, for this fixture is looked upon as a full-dress rehearsal for the Grand National meeting which opens on the same course next Tuesday week. The weather was fine though dull, there was a large attendance, and the track was fast. Padishah, who is one of the favourites for the Grand National Steeplechase, won the Homeby Steeplechase from Cottingham and Slayer, while the Lawford Steeplechase went to El Caballo, the favourite. The maiden was won by NiggeT Boy, who returned a useful price.
