MOCK BATTLE PLANNED.
DEFENCE OF WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. A mock battle, in which four Baffin bombers of the Wellington Territorial Squadron will co-operate with coastal defence units at Fort Dorset in attempting to repulse an attack on Wellington by H.M.S. Leith, will be staged next week-end. The Leith will make threa attacks, one on Saturday afternoon, one at night, and another on Sunday morning. The Chief of the General Staff, Majorgeneral J. E. Duigan, said to-night that the object of the mock battle was to test the coastal defences and communications. The exercises would provide a valuable opportunity for co-operation by the three services, which had to work together for the defence of New Zealand.
