18-FOOTERS.
CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDED. MANX* WINS THE TITLE. A satisfactory conclusion to the aftermath of the contest for the world's rhampionship title in lv-footers. sailed in Auckland last February, wa* readied last evening when the official notification of the withdrawal of 'Faroe's protest was received by the New Zealand InterDominion Yacht Racing Committee. Air. fleorge M. Dennes. chairman of the commitee which inaugurated and carried through the content, said it was pleasing to know that the decision of the appeal committee, disqualifying Taree and awarding the title to Mann, had been upheld by the Sydney authority and the protest, which was not allowed by the rules under which the contest was sailed, had been unreservedly withdrawn. This decision now makes it possible to officially declare Manu, representing the Richmond Crui*ing Club, the winner of the world's championship title, with a score of 307 points. The runner-up was .fcanctte. Ponsonhy Cruising Club, with 382 points. The decision was forwarded last week to Sir Ernest Davis by Mr. I. Horwitz, president of the Australian 18-footcrs" board of coutrol and Sir Ernest has sent his appreciation of the sporting spirit which has settled the question.
