DECISION OF COUNCIL
NOMINATIONS CALLED FOR. The resignation of Mr. Campbell came ho fore * special meeting of the New Zealand Rugby League Council this afternoon, when it was decided to telegraph- to the various Leagues asking for nominations for the post of co-manager, to «ail for England by August 8. The nominations are to clone at noon to-mor-row, and a further special meeting of the council will be held at 5.30 to-morrow to consider them. The president, Mr. Redwood, pointed out tlio need to> stress urgency in calling for nomination*. .Mr. H. Wilson said it was necessary to reopen the matter at once, and the Leagues ediould be given the opportunity t<i nominate. • Mr. Kedwood said that if it were possible to got a man away in tinu , , he could leave with the ton in. He also said he hud heard eome disconcerting rumours about Mr. Campbell's withdrawal. The Press could assist by giving tin; true facte of the case, which Air. Campbell had already outlined in a statement. Subsequently to the meeting Mr. Redwood said Mr. Campbell was examined by his own doctor, and other doctors were called in as consultants. The report from itlie medical men came before a meeting of tlio council on .Saturday, at which Mi". Campbell was present. Mr. Campbell decided to seek further medical advice and did so, aud la«st evening made his decision not to go with the team.
