A violent explosion wrecked a pumphouse at William Beard and Company's steelworks near (Jlasgow and set fire to an adjoining shop.

Nisrht shift workers were showered with lumps of red-hot ore and other debris. Some sheltered in the air raid refuge. The windows of every building in the neighbourhood were shattered and there were many miraculous escapes.

The explosion of a bomb at Wolverhampton railway station slightly damaged the parcel office and blew out the windows. A porter was injured.
