The second English Trophy match of the Soccer reason was played at Blandford Park in ideal all-round conditions between 'Wellington and Auckland, the local team having lifted the tropliv from Otago liy live goals to two on June 17. There was a large attendance. Attacking. Wellington was close when Hickmott kicked and Leslie headed, onlv to find Warren safe. The Wellington goalie. Turkington. saved three trials in quick succession before Leslie r-'-ored for Wellington from Quirke. Wellington 1 Auckland 0. Auckland scored account*? when Fvfie broke away and was charged off the ball Robinson running in to score. Auckland 1. Wellington 1. Auckland scored again a minute later, McCallnni passing to Xeedhain for Stevenson to head and score. At halftime tlie score was: — Auckland 2 Wellington 1 The second spell saw McCallum pass to Stevenson, who beat the back and caught Turkington off guard. Auckland .'J. Wellington 1. Haines, the Wellington skipper, was knocked out from a hard drive fn n Fvvie. but returned in 10 minutes.
