Government To Retain Czech London Assets. SET OFF BRITISH CLAIMS. RUGBY, July 14. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, made a statement in the Hnusp nf Commons at question time m-unlm- plans for the settlement of claims against Czech assets blocked in London by legislation passed in the s=).ring. He said the intention was to draw up a scheme for using the assets as a set off agaipst British claims.
The scheme, which would be submitted to the House when it reassembled after the recess, would pro\ ide for the repayment to the Treasury of £(■■.000.000 advanced to the former Chechoslovakian Government and for the use for the benefit of Czecli refugees of the unexpended balance of a free gift of £4.000.000, added Sir John. It would also provide for dealing with the claims of British holders.
