Bubbles, The Goblin.

(By Feodor Stan ton, Ngatea, HanraH Plains.) Once upon a time there was a very naughty goblin called Bubbles, who was always teasing the older goblins. One day ae he was out looking for some mischief he saw an old man gnome sitting on hie balcony with hie long, long beard hanging down over the rail. This wae too much of a temptation for Bubbles. He caught hold of the end of it and had scrambled up before the old gnome called "Jump up." Now old man Gnome's house was in the top of a rose-bush in the very largest scarlet rose. Bubbles started to tease him and make him angry. First of all he tossed his evening paper over the rail, then stamped on hie pointed hat and did all he could to annoy. "Ha, ha, ha," he laughed. "Xobody can stop me doing what I like. Ha, ha, ha!" But a little breeze happened to be passing at that moment and stopped to listen. Seeing that Bubbles was standing right on the far side of the bush he gave a gentle "puff."' '"Oh! oh! help me," cried Bubbles as he toppled over the edge on to the prickly flowers. ">To," said the breeze, "you'll stay there till you are sorry." "Oh! please help me up and I'll never be bad any more." And needless to say, he kept this promise to the letter.
