AT CAMBRIDGE O.T.C

Got In Touch Through "The Page" A HAPPY sequel has to be recorded to the publication in "The Page' 4 back in February of a photograph of the 2nd Cadet Battalion at Cambridge, taken in 1917. The photograph was supplied by Captain H. H. Allison (Northumberland Fusiliers), now of Palmerston North, and president of the Imperial Ex-Service-men's Social Club there. Captain Allison stated that something like 75 per cent of the cadets of the battalion were New Zealanders, though in 1 1 years' residence in the Dominion he had not met one who was in the picture with him. Captain Allison now writes to express pleasure in having heard from one of his brother-cadets, Lieutenant J. 0. G. Slack, whose military record the latter gives, briefly, ae follows:—"After being turned down in both North and South Islands, I went Home and joined the Imperial Forces, with which I served all the time. After leaving the O.T.C. at Cambridge, I joined the M.G.C. and was with the 19th Division which took part in the last big (ierman offensive in Picardy and Champagne and also the advance to Victory.

"I was never wounded, nor have I met any of those who appear on the photo, but would like to hear from anj of the M.G.C. attached to the 19th Division." Captain Allison states that he looked up the record ae given in "Twenty Years After," and found that the 19th Division took part in the Meesines battle and also the Marne In 1918, eo that both officers took part in these two shows. Captain Allison was with the 23d Division at Messines and the 50th at the and was "knocked out" at both places. Having heard from Lieutenant Slack forpes "another link in the chain," Captain Allieon remarks. Are any of the 19th Division M.G.C. left in the country? From 1917 to 1939 is a long time, but here are two soldiers who have passed through much in experience, in distance and in years, and are hearing of each other again. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ AMBULANCE REUNION Christchurch Event A reunion of the men who served with the Field Ambulances overseas will be held in Christchurch on Saturday, August 19.
