WELLINGTON TROTTING CLUB.

THE ANNUAL REPORT. MOST SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The annual report of the Wellington Trotting Club congratulates members on the most successful season eo far enjoyed by the club. After a long period of anxious financial strain, it was most gratifying to record that the finances of the club were now in a. most flourishing condition. Stakemoneys were again increased, the average for the six days' racing held being £2117 per day, as compared with £1980 per day for the five days' racing of the previous season. Notwithstanding this increase, they concluded the year with a net profit of £3380 12,', which constitutes a record for the club, and at the moment had a credit ■balance at the bank of £4838. In addition to the very satisfactory position as outlined, capital expenditure of £566 19/1 was incurred. For the first time in the club's history, members' subscriptions passed the £700 mark, a striking testimony to the increasing popularity of tfl e <.lub and the light harness sport. Ihe season's operations provided most encouraging endorsement of the club's policy of improving the classes of races and in offering generous stakes. Throughout the season high-class racing was provided, and in the majority of events excellent sport -was witnessed. In the coming season, during the Centennial, it was intended to attract the best class pacer and trotter in the Dominion. Following the resolutions passed at a special general meeting the stewards concluded the negotiations with the Wairarapa Trotting Club for the merger of that club with Wellington. The executive intend to join in with other sporting organisations in an endeavour to provide the most attractive entertainment available during this period of festivity. Efforts were under way to have extra racing days allocated to this centre during this period, -svhen it -was hoped to provide four two-day trotting meeting*.
