LEAGUE TRIALS.

NORTH PLAY SOUTH. PROBABLES AND POSSIBLES. SATURDAY'S ATTRACTIONS. Candidates for inclusion *in the NewZealand team to tour Great Britain and France will be seen in action at Carlaw l'ark on Saturday, when, in addition to ' the inter-Island match, Probables and ; Possibles teams will meet. In view of selection oi the Dominion teain, the North Island y. South Island fixture k attracting particular attention from League followers. A very keenlyfought contest is anticipated. As in previous yeafcs, the South will have a heavy and fast pack of. forwards, with a very experienced player in Rex King to lead them. Good reports have been received of the South Island backs, and the play of Davidson, one of the three-quarters, will be watched closely. He is one of the heavy and fast type of backs considered neceseary in a New Zealand team. The North forwards are a heavy and well-balanced lot, and will include Beadle and Brooks, two leading South Auckland players, and Stanaway, from Wellington, who is well known for his versatile play. There should be the neeesnary weight in the scfuins to sivt the two hookers an equal chance. Orman, of Inangah ia, is a well-known expert, but he will have A good opponent in Brooks, the South Auckland player.

The North Auckland backs should he able to show pace and combination. The inside men, Solomon, Kay and Tittleton, ;ne players of wide experience, and the North Island wings are particularly fast. The experience of past years has been that southern forwards have been equal to their northern opponents, but the Xorth backs have usually been superior to the opposing seven. The Fixtures. At the" meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Control Board last evening the Referees' Association wrote ill connection with tlie replacement of injured players.
