STEAM TRAWLER IDLE.

FIREMEN'S COMPLAINT. (Prom Our Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The steam trawler Futurist has been idle at Wellington for about seven weeks as the result of the attitude adopted by certain of the crew. It was stated today that the trouble arose through the firemen, who had been on the vessel for about five or six weeks, objecting to sailing with a seaman-fisherman "who has been employed by New Zealand Fisheries, Limited, owners of the Futurist, for some years. The company took a firm stand and the result has been that the ship has been held up here ever since.

The company depends . . the Futurist foi about 60 per cent of its fish supplies and throiifrh the vessel being out of commission the quantity of fish available loyally has naturally been affected. Costs have also been increased through the company having to get supplies of fish elsewhere and because of this retail prices in some instances, it -yas stated this afternoon, had risen.
