SILVER BROCADE FOR TO-DAY'S BRIDE

Four Bridesmaids In Ice-Blue Satin.

CAUGHEY — FINLAY.

A wedding of great interest to Aucklanders was celebrated by Archbishop Averill at King's College Chapel. Middlemore, this afternoon, when Patricia Mary Finlay was married to Thomas Harcourt Clarke Caughey. Assisting the Archbishop was the "Rev. T. V. G. Gilfillan. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Finlay, of Mountain Road, Epsom, and the bridegroom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Marsden Caughey, of Allendale Road, Mount Albert. Exquisitely designed was the bride's gown of stiffened silver brocade, with its rich gleaming qualities. A Grecian influence dominated the simple square neck line and long, tight-fitting sleeve* Hie unusually cut skirt, with its wide pleats at the side* formed a bouffant I'Hect, which gave an appearance of the Victorian crinoline fashion. Artistry was also expressed in the small posy o"f orange blossom buds tied with satin ribbon which held in place the oval voluminous tulle veil which enveloped the frock in misty effect. A large posy of lily-of-the-valley and snowdrops completed a lovely bridal picture. The Bridesmaids. Simplicity and harmony in the colour scheme characterised the frocks worn bv the bridesmaids—Misses Ethel Mappin, Yvonne Rapley (Palmerston North) Mary Caughey and Patricia YVooton. Delicately shaded in unique tones of ice merle blue souple satin, their dresses were made with square necks and the elbow sleeves were padded at the shoulders. Swathings were artistically arranged at the waist line, and smail buttons were used from the back of the neck to the waist. The bouffant skirts were made on pink stiffened net, and fell in billowy folds. Coronets of fresh daphne were their headdresses, and thev carried bouquets of daphne and cyclamens. Mr. Alan Goldie. and Mr. Jack McNeil! of Tauranga. The ushers were Dr. J. E. Caughey and Mr. Ken Macindoe.
