SEA TRANSPORT.
CHATHAM* ISLANDS NEED. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. A petition relating to sea transport for the Chatham Islands was presented in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr. T. H. McCombs (Government — Lyttelton), on behalf of 20 residents of the islands. "A ship suitable for carrying all classes of stock and produce at reasonable rates would go far to improve the economic position of residents of the Chatham Islands," the petition stated. "A better shipping service would assist in the development of the islands, but it could not be obtained without Government aid."
