APPOINTMENT QUESTIONED.

WELLINGTON, this day.
Notice of his intention to ask the Minister of Labour, Mr. Webb, whether it is the* intention of the Government to introduce legislation "validating the unlawful appointment of Mr. C. £. Hunter to a< position in the Government service," was given by Mr. S. G. Holland (Opposition, Christchurch) in the Houee of Representative-, yesterday. Mr. Holland also" intends to ask the Minister whether instructions have been given that proceedings must not be taken as provided by the Electoral Act prescribing a fine of £50 a day for every person accepting a position in the public service within twelve months of being .. member of Parliament. Mr. Hunter was Labour member for Manawatu in the last Parliament. He lost his seat at the general election to the Hon. J. G. Cobbe (National), who previously held the Oroua seat. Mr. Hunter now holds the position of liaison officer in the Labour Department.
