EXCELLENT PROGRAMME.
The Overseas League rooms presented an attractive appearance on Saturday evening when the Auckland Welsh Society held a largely-attended social. The decorations were in red and gold and the Welsh flag held pride of place. The president, Mr. T. E. Price, welcomed several visitors. Condolences were extended to the families of the late Mr. F. Moros and Mrs. W. J. Edwards in their recent bereavements. The president, in his remarks, read out the subjects for the competitions to the royal national eisteddfod of Wales to be held in Denbighshire in August of this year.
Mr. A. J. Norman, a vice-president, then took the chair and a splendid pro. gramme was rendered as follows: — Songs. Mesdames Barry Rothery and Margaret Cooper, Messrs. K. Williams and Robert Owen; monologues, Mr. and Mrs. A. Parks. The pianists wore Misses Netta Simich and N. Cooper. An impression of Wales was given by Mrs. E. Oslmrne. who recently returned from a visit to the Old Country. The Welsh community singing was conducted by Mr. D. R.Davieß.
The ladies of the committee responsible for the supper were: Mesdames W. Lloyd, C, Barke, W. Cox, Morgan Jones. Carey Williams and the Misses B. E. Morris and Cicely Williams.
