OLD NORTHCOTE CHURCH.
EIGHTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
Large congregations attended the anniversary services of St. John the Baptist Church, Northcote, yesterday. The consecration ceremony was performed 80 years ago by Bishop Selwyn.
The preacher in the morning was the Ven. Archdeacon Hawkins, while Archbishop Averill conducted a confirmation service in the evening.
The offertories for the day amounted to £132, as compared with £110 last year. The vicar, the Rev. F. C. Truman, in expressing gratitude for the response, said that some further amounts towards this "golden offering" would be handed in next Sunday.
