FANCY DRESS DANCE.
AVONDALE CLUB. The Avondalo League Football Club held a. successful fancy dress dance recently in aid of funds for their candidate in the schoolboys' queen competition. The guests of honour were members nf the Auckland Rugby League ladies' committee, Mesdames Culpari, Scott, Stonex, Howe and C'hernsidc, Mr. Ivan Culpari, secretary Auckland Rugby League. and Mr. C. Howe. Prizewinner* were: Best fancy dress, lady. Mrs. G. Hollier, as "Powder and Patches"; man, Mr. Lyndsay Parker, Mexican; most original. Miss Melva Marsden, as '"Robin Hood," Mr. K. .Toner l , soldier; best poster, Miss Olga Rout, High tirade Sweets. A special prize was awarded Miss Emily Chappie as "Time." During the evening a large cake, decorated as a football lield, was cut by Mrs. H. Green, wife of the secretary. Novelties and balloons were distributed to the dancers. The ladies' committee responsible for the arrangements were: Meedames H. Green, P. 11. .Tones, L. Rout, H. Skast and G. Rack. Mr. Lou. Rout was master of ceremonies.
