PRESENTATION.
HOUSING CONSTRUCTION. The etaff of the Housing Construction Department at Auckland met recently for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr. E. Hedley. who recently resigned from the position of inspector in charge of the .Auckland District. After alluding to the good feeling that had existed between the staff and Mr. Hedley since the commencement of the Department in Auckland, Mr. F. E.! Reeves called upon Mr. R. E. Butler, clerk in charge eince the inception of the Department, on behalf of the staff to present Mr. Hedley with a set of bowlfl in a leather case, suitably inscribed. After Mr. Hedley had responded. Mr. W. A. Willette, senior overseer, then presented him with an enlarged photograph of the staff. In replv, Mr. Hedley said he appreciated the photograph even more than the bowls, as it would be a perpetual reminder of his "family" in the Housing Department. Mr. H. Metcalfe also presented Mr. Hedley with a wallet of Mre. Hedley. on arrival, was presented with a bouquet of irisee by Mies EM. Wray and later wae the recipient of a handbag, presented by Miss E. Maysmor, on behalf of the lady members of the staff as an appreciation of her co-opera-tion with Mr. Hedley in the carrying out of the arduous responsibilities of hia position.
