HOSPITAL BOARD FINANCE.
MOUNT ALBERT ATTITUDE. Some criticism of the Auckland Hospital Board was levelled at a meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening, when a Utter wis received from the Takapuna Borough Council expressing the opinion that an unjust t.urden was placed on ratepayers in connection with hospital finance, and urging that th?r? should be nationalisation of bo*;> : .t,ils and creation of a State medical service. The Mayor. Mr. H. A. Anderson, said that they had previously taken up the stand that there should be a complete review of the incidence of hospital taxation, but since then the Social Security legislation had come into force. He considered that the council ehould stand by itft previous decision. Mr. H. Barnes thought that the Takapuna proposal ehould be supported. The council had passed on many requests to the Auckland Hospital Board and had received scant consideration. Mr. F. E. Martin deprecated criticism of another local body, but considered that the incidence of taxation ehould be reviewed by a commission. The letter wa« received, and the previous decision that there ehould be a complete review of the incidence of hoepital taxation was re-affirmed.
