EXPRESS DELAYED.
LIGHTNING IN THE WAIKATO. POWER POLE STRUCK. A power pole being struck by lightning between Ngaruawahia and Taupiri was the of the main trunk express from Wellington running approximately 00 in inn tee' late this morning. The flash of lightning caused the power to fail, and hence the electrically operated points wore put out of order. This necessitated the operating of the points by hand. The Limited exprepri was not affected to any great extent, lnit it wa* necessary for the train to lie piloted over the point*. She arrived in Auckland about six minutes behind schedule.
