J. G. IRVINE, LOCK IN 1914 TEAM

(By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, this day. The death lias occurred at Queenstown of John G. Irvine, well-known Rnjtby player, who was a member of the New Zealand team that toured Australia in 1014. and who was popularly known as "Sal." Irvine wae a fine type of forward and a very capable lock. He represented Otago 21 times. In 1914 he played for the South in an inter-Island game at Wellington -and gained his All Black jersey the same year, playing with the New Zealand team that won all ten games in the Commonwealth.
