WITHDRAWAL WANTED
German Consul Who Assist** Liverpool Spy.
QUESTIONS IN COMMONS.
(Received 9.30 a.m.) RUGBY, June 16. Questioned in the House of Commons alxnit the results of his inquiry into allegations made at the Manchester Assizes on May 19. that the German Consul at Liverpool had assisted a man named Kelly to make contacts with foreign agents on the Continent to whom he sold plans of a Government factory, the Prime Minister. Mr. Chamberlain, stated: "In view" of what transpired from the proceedings in Court the British Government must accept the conclusion that the German Consulate was implicated in this case. Britain therefore has requested Germany to arrange for the withdrawal of the Consul. Herr Reinhardt." A Berlin message says it is officially denied that the Consul was implicated in espionage. Germany reserves the right to retaliate. In answering another question Mr. Chamberlain said the only fresh information he could pive about the AngloSoviet negotiations was that Mr. William Strang. Foreign Office Counsellor, had arrived at Moscow liearing full instructions to guide the British Ambassador. Sir William Seeds, in the future conduct of the negotiations.
