AFFILIATION SPLIT.

CANTERBURY CLERKS.

, ELEMENTS IN UNION AFFAIRS.

(From Our Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A recrudescence of the divergent industrial feelings among members of the Canterbury Clerks, Cashiers and Office Employees' Union is threatened. Since the question of affiliation with the Federation of Labour was decided, the affairs of the union liave escaped publicity, but the continuance of divisions in the union's ranks is evidenced by the activity now going on as the annual meeting approaches.

Circulars have beeti issued to members informing them that the annual meeting will be held next Monday nicrht. Under the existing rules no nomination of members to fill the executive positions is required, and every member has the light, with the consent of the 'person nominated, to make a nomination at the general meeting. Members already realise that ten members will exert their privilege and demand, that a postal ballet be taken for the election of the executive.

Meetings of members who hold views different from those of the majority of the present executive have been held, and activity is also being shown in organising for the annual meeting by that, section of members which oppose* affiliation to the Federation of Lalwur. The Canterbury union has a membership of more than 2o0() at present.
