In tlio cricket match at Derby the county eleven scored 309 against West Indies (A. E. Alderman 90, D. Smith 64).

The visitors had 14 runs on for the loss of one wicket when stumps Were drawji. In Derbyshire's preceding match last week, when the county beat Worcestershire by 315 runs, Smith scored 123 in the second innings and Alderman 91. Smith was a member of E. Tt. T. Holmes' English side in 1935-36 and he made 48 in the visitors' only inninprs in the third Test at kden Park. Alderman was coaching Waikato a few years ago, but his form then was disappointing in match cricket.
