Barney Down I Wellington) beat Don Johnson (Auckland) by a technical knock-out in -the ninth round of a professional welter-weight boxing contest scheduled for twelve rounds to-night. It was a bright display of scientific boxinc. in which both men moved fast and showed nimble footwork and clever defence. They were well matched as to height, weight and reach.
