ACTOR FOR TRIAL.

FRAUD CHARGES DENIED.

Described a> an actor, Franklin John Smith, aped 41. -tppcared before Mr. C. !!. Orr Walker.' S.M., in the Police l runt yesterday afternoon, on eight '•liarnos of incurring a debt or liability and obtainins credit to the total value of £74 12/1 by fraud, between April 15 and May (!. He was further charged with the theft of a camera and film valued at £21 10/, and with obtaining possession of a motor car by falsely representing that he would pay £5, the amount owing on it.

Detective-Sergeant McHugh prosecuted. Mr. A.'Hall Skelton appeared for the accused.

After lengthy evidence had been heard, Mr. Skelton submitted that four charges must fail.
