HIGHWAY PATROLS. m MOTOR CYCLES WANTED. DKPARTMKXTAL INQUIRIES. With tlie nlijei't of increasing the efficiency of traffic patrols, it is understood that officer** of the Transport Department throughout New Zealand are at present making inquiries among motor linns for special police motor cycles. Questioned tiii> nioniinjr. the Chief Traffic Inspector at Auckland. Mr. J. E. Ainsworth. admitted that he was inakiiijr inquiries in Auckland, but beyond that he was unable to make any statement. It i> believed that the type of motor cycle that officials of the Department have in mind is particularly powerful and specially, equipped for traffic work. It is presumed that in the Auckland <li<-tii<t the cycles would be put to use on tlie Great South lloud. where they would be of definite advantage in controlling traffic, particularly on race days and holidays.
