LOCKE BEATS WHITH COMBE, SIX AND FIVE.
(Received 11 a.m.) LOXDOX, June 1. After being two up at the end of the first 36 holes, A. D. Locke (South Africa) beat R. A. Whitcombe (British open champion, 1938), 6 and 5, in the Jt;3oo-a-side golf match at Coombe Hill. Whitcombe was one up at the forty-fifth hole, but thereafter he wag constantly in trouble, and the game ended on the sixtyseventh green.
