POLICEMAN'S FAULT. WHY WOMAN MOTORIST FORGOT SIGN. (Special—By Air Mall.) LONDON, May 6. Here is a new twist to the old "your-policemen-are-wonderful" joke. The heroine was a woman motorist summoned for not conforming to a traffic sign. Said her solicitor: "I am rather inclined to blame the police for this. They place a handsome policeman at the corner and then expect motorists to look out for road signs and not at the policeman. It is not for me to sugjgest that my client looked at the police|inan with anything but a professional | eye, but that is her reason for missing the sign."
The policeman in question did not blush when he gave evidence. The lady was fined 10/.
