The thirty horses nominated for the iMangere Handicap on Saturday, the first day of the Auckland Trotting* Club's winter meeting at Alexandra" Parkbecame acceptors; the field unwieldy. The club remained unperturbed. it solved the difficulty by dividing the race, and inerea*.ng the stake money to £400 thus providing for £200 for the placed horses ln each of the two divisions, instead of £200 for the placed horses in one race with thirty pacers engaged. Tins was a generous action, and ono that should be appreciated bv owners and trainers. The divisions will be treated as separate events, making the programme one of eight races, and the totalisator will be open on each race.
