SAVAGE CLUB FUNCTION.

GOVERXOR-GEXERAL PRESENT. Great success attended the second korct-u of the Auckland Savage Club's season in the Lewis Eady Hall on Saturday night. The club's ariki, the Gover-nor-General, Lord Galway, was present, and Mr. R. M. Algie occupied the dais.

A number of prominent visitors included officers from the French sloop Duniont d'Urville. In acknowledging an enthusiastic greeting. Lord Gal way replied in happy vein, while in the course of the evening the chairman spoke on the practice of medicine among the early Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. A large cartoon painting, executed by a member, was presented to Mr. Algie by the rangatira, Mr. F. N. Ambler.

Entertainment was provided by Mr. OJeorge Joseph and party (sketch). Mr. Walter Brouph (songs), Mr. N. Dimery (violin). Mr. R. G. Sellar (conjuring), and the orchestra, under Mr. A. E. Rayment.
