LOSS TO SWIMMING.
FORMER N.Z. JUNIOR CHAMPION. The death of Mis? Xani Kir.i, a daughter o; and Mrs. Ilcmopo Kira, and a member of the Whakarcwarewa Swimming Club, has removed from the sport of •swimniiiifr one of its most promising juniors. She passed away at Rotorua yesterday morning. Although only 12 years of age ; Xani. in 1938 at Nelson, won the Xew Zealand junior 50 yards freestyle championship. In February of the same year she created a Xew Zealand record for 30 yard« junior backstroke, completing the distance in 37 2-."is. A s-ister of deceased is Xawi, who in 1936. at Hamilton, won both the 50 yards and 100 yards national junior titles."
