HOTEL PICKPOCKETS.
ELDERLY MAN ROBBED.
LOSES WAIXET WITH £38.
Pickpockets who robbed a man in the lift of a large city hotel on Monday evening seemingly continued to operate in the same premises. On Tuesday night they claimed another victim, an eldcrlv niaii. who was relieved of his wallet. which eVntiiined £:W in notes.
The man. who is slightlv crippled, has been staying at the hotel for some months. On Tuesday evening about 7.1.1 he left the lounpre and walked towards the lift to go to his bedroom on the third floor. While waiting for the lift to reach the first floor he was joined by three men who stood close to him—so close that one of them bumped into him. The three strangers accompanied the elderly man to the third floor and were still in it when it descended. When the guest looked in his insicte pocket for his wallet he found that it liad been stolen. It had evidently been "lifted" by one of the men prior to the four passengere entering the lift.
