The Empress of Australia encountered heavy fog. Her maximum speed was ten knots in good patches and she was frequently hove-to.
Specially invited by the Ojieon. the stewards, stokers and firemen of the Kmpress of Australia who were off duty crowded the main dining-room last night for a cinema performance, which included two Walt Disney features, and Gordon Harker's "The Return of the Frog." Some of the men wore civilian clothes and others were in working kit.
lheir Majesties in the afternoon watched the escorting cruisers in a display of their gunnery efficiency. The Southampton put up a smoke-shell cloud which the cruisers' anti-aircraft guns peppered, the white puffs of bursting shells marking the hits.
