RICHARDS OUTPOINTS STEWART.

Fourteen thousand people at the Ruahtutter Bay stadium last night saw a gruelling 12-round boxing contest between the Australian middle and lightheavy champion, Ron Richards, and the American negro, Oael» Stewart. The verdict went to Richard* oil points. Stewart was on hia knees in the third end ninth rounds. Commenting on the matching of these boxers an Australian critic stated that not since the Americans came across the Pacific to meet Jack Carroll has such an international battle been arranged. Stewart Is Mid to have come from America because every front-rank middle-weight in America dodged meeting him in the ring. In his previous lights since coming to Australia Stewart fractured the jaw of the Jamaican, iSyd Brown, in the first round, and cloned the eye of Sabatino in the seventh round, to get a t.k.o. verdict;
Richards' victory will further establish him as among the world's best light heiivv weight*. Prior to having to rest for three nmntha with a damanged hand, he hud defeated two Americans, Ray Actis and Cue Lennevitch, the latter rated very highly. Both victories we.e knock-outs. He made a reappearance this month, when he defeated Brown for th* third time—* knock-out in the third round.
