UNUSUAL LAYOUT.

HOUSING BLOCK PLANNED. 40 HOMES AT NARROW NECK. An unusual and attractive layout lia« been planned by the Housing Conetructinn Department for a block of 4(i housing units which it propose* to erect on an estate in Old Lake Koad, NarrowKeck. Thv site adjoins the Devonport Borough Council's block of land on which 37 State houses have just been completed. The design of the new block includes a semi-circular road linking Old L«ke Koad with Bank Street. Leading inwards from the semi-circle, the sub" divisional plan shows a short road with a- turning circle at the end. From this point the innermost lots in the block radiate outwards in a pleasingly symmetrical manner. The (lewifrn fll«o provides for a communal block of 14 garages and a reserve area of over an acre. "It's a very attractive layout, to my way of thinkinjr," said the' Mayor, Mr. H. F. \V. Meikle, when the plan was submitted to the Devonport Borough Council last night for provisional approval. The coun.il decided to grant the plan this approval.
