Restriction On Exports To Britain. QUESTIONS IN COMMONS. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LOXDOX, May 9. The President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Oliver Stanley, replying , to Mr. R. H. Morgan (Con., Stourbridge) in the House of Commons, said that the only reduction of exports of Xew Zealand mutton and lamb since January was a 3 per cent cut on the 1038 figures. Mr. Morgan: Is there not to be a restriction on Xew Zealand and Australian frozen I>eef in the third quarter of the year? Mr. Stanley: We limit ourselves tt> paying attention to the abnormal flood of imports. 12,511,000 EMPLOYED. BRITISH FIGURES FOR APRIL. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, May 9. The Ministry of Labour estimates that the number of insured persons in employment in Britain on April 17 y,'*e approximately, 12.511.000, or 108.000 more than a luoiwtll before, and on a comparable basis 270,000 more than a year before. At the same date the registered unemployed totalled 1,044,394, comprising 1,343,205 wholly unemployed, 238,729 temporarily laid off, and" 02,370 normally in casual employment. This total is 82.03;j less tfcan in March and 103,370 less than in April, 1938.

PORT OF LONDON.

VISIT BY PRINCESSES. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, May 9. Queen Mary accompanied Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret when they were shown round the Port of London. The Royal party cruised ten miles from the Tower pier to Woolwich and passed through the George V. Dock, as well as visiting the offices of the Port of London Authority.
