PENSIONS FOR SPINSTERS. LONDON. The agitation by spinsters for a pension came under fire when the Association of Women Clerks and Secretaries held their annual conference in London. Miss A. C. Beamish, who preside*', said that in upholding the dignity of womanhood they could only oppose a proposition which considered a woman who had not succeeded in catching a i husband was so much an object of pity I that she had to be compensated at the' rate of 10/ per week.
