CENTENARY CRICKET.

NO ENGLISH COACH NEXT SEASON. Owing to the interruptions to club cricket next season through the centenary celebrations and the visit of the Australian eleven, it was decided at a Jneeting of the Auckland Cricket Association laet night not to engage an ovenseas coach for the 1939-40 season. The New Zealand Council wrote regarding suggestions for the covering of wickets during Plunket Shield and international matches, and the meeting decided to inquire from the M.C.C. as to the system used in England. A letter was received from the Grafton Club in connection with the methode adopted by umpires in determining the fitness of playing conditions in regard to the light. The matter was referred to the Umpires' Association. The club also recommended that- new sight screens should be built for Eden Park No. 1 wicket, this being referred to the Eden Park Board of Control for consideration. The Tamabi team was declared the winner of the third grade competition. Mr. N. C. Snedden was re-elected representative of the association on the Eden Park Board of Control.
