CANTERBURY MARKETSTRADE QUIET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUR CH, Friday. Trading in the Canterbury grain, seed and produce markets this -week Has t>een quiet, with lew price changes of importance. Seed wheat is still going out in large quantities, growers taking full advantage of the excellent weather for planting. There is little inquiry for potatoes, the North Island market apparently being well supplied. Shipments to the north are stilly being made regularly. The quotation to farmers has weakened slightly, being now £6 to £6 5/. The trend of the market in Australia still does not encourage the hope that the embargo on Xew Zealand potatoes will be lifted for a further period. The latest Sydney quotation for TasminiM potatoes is from £6 to £11. A fair quantity of red clover is offering. The quality is good and some large lin<* are coming on the market. The best quality is quoted at up to Bd. The crop in South Canterbury ie reported to be large. a P. . Quotations for seed from there are slightly lower. The crop of Montgomery ion clover is better than for several years. A large area in South Canterbury was also planted in this seed, but the crop is good everywhere. Certified seed is quoted at 16 to 1/9 on trucks. Brown top is weak, and practically all cocksfoot and white clover crops have been marketed.
